Siapa Anwar Ibrahim 5: Wajah sebenar Anwar

Oleh rmf

Petikan NTAnwar

The Parliament of World’s Religions (Parlimen Agama Dunia). The Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions (CPWR.

Beliau berkhidmat dalam United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia dan sebagai ahli Lembaga Pengarah dalam the Board for the Global Ethics and Religion Forum.

Selain paderi Dr William, terdapat juga paderi Canon Dr. Gwynne Guibord, paderi Dr. John Pawlikowski, paderi Dr. Thomas A. Baima, paderi Dr. Richard Luecke, paderi Timothy Lyne, Rabbi Herman Schaalman, Rabbi Peter Knobel, Rabbi Herbert Bronstein, dan lain-lain. Klik di sini

Sementara itu Ahli Lembaga Penasihat Antarabangsa Parlimen Antara Agama ini adalah Dr. Saleha Abedin (Director of the Institute of Muslim Minority Affairs headquartered in London); Paderi Dr. Marcus C.R. Braybrooke (Chairman of the World Congress of Faiths and Patron of the International Interfaith Centre at Oxford); Sri Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Hindu, Kerala, India); Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso (Buddhist/Tibet) ; Rabbi David Rosen (the International Director of Interreligious Affairs of the American Jewish Committee); Paderi Desmond Tutu (the Emeritus Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town ) dan lain-lain.

Pride

It’s hump day. I’m not 100% sure where the origin of the term ‘hump day’ came from but I can verify that few people where I now live have any idea what it means. Wednesday is hump day. Why? Most work weeks involve some sort of hill you have to get over and in keeping with the try-and-make-it-to-the-weekend lifestyle most young professionals have, Wednesday is halfway between Monday and Friday.

This week, however, is one giant hump. No, my week is not challenging. It’s actually the opposite. I’m finding it challenging to keep myself entertained as I literally have nothing to do. I spent my entire morning doing one of my favourite past times since I moved here: trying to do watch something I can’t. Normally I spend hours scouring the web for good links to shows I miss back at home. Shows that won’t how here until next year. Or maybe even the year after. And even then, watching it won’t be easy. Shows will change networks mid-season. Networks will change time slots. Time slots aren’t advertised. You name it. I can’t find it. Sometimes even movies don’t make it here.

The thing I’ve had the most difficulty finding here has been hockey. I’m not sure if anyone from Asia really watches or cares about hockey. That said, today was the World Juniors Gold match hosted in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. It came down to two countries known for great hockey players: Canada and the USA. Minutes before the game started, I was able to find a site that had a live blog/chat going on. I then spent close to three hours glued to my desk, refreshing twitter(thank God for hash tags) and following the game on TSN.ca. The funny thing is, I wouldn’t say I’m a huge hockey fan. Of all the sports I do watch, I enjoy it the most but I’m not sure that says much.

Why, then, was my heart racing about 95% of the time? I’m not sure how to describe the feeling of watching/hearing/reading about my countrymen other than it gives me chills. I love it. I’ll read anything about Canada and I get excited. Reading news articles about a city I don’t live in is still a part of my daily routine. I’m not saying I always get excited in a good way. Sometimes I’m deeply shamed by what Canadians do (Mr. Harper, I don’t like you or your thoughts on global warming). But for the most part, I’m like “Damn, we Canadians are awesome.”

I guess that’s why when it comes to sports AND my countrymen, everything becomes much more intense. In 37 days, my home town will be hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics and to say I’m elated would be a vast understatement. I’m hoping to attend a few events and just be around for all the amazing energy in Vancouver. I also can’t wait for people to see how great my country is. Ack. So much pride for one day!

[In case you are curious, we loss in overtime to the US, 6-5.]

More documented killings in Honduras

I have previously blogged about how the international community has turned a blind eye towards the human rights violations in Honduras (read ‘Honduras revisited – free and fair elections?‘; ‘The recalcitrant IMF funds Honduras’; & ‘Human Rights Abuse in Honduras – A Plea to HRW’)

Given that Amnesty International has released statements and reports documenting these abuses,  this investigative piece by Joseph Shansky (who was reporting on the military coup) only serves to reaffirm that the situation in Honduras is far from returning to normal as the mainstream media wants us to believe.

As he noted,

‘… With the international community given the green light by the US that democratic order has returned via elections, it’s open season for violent forces in Honduras working to tear apart the political unity of the Resistance Front against the coup…’

Shansky went on to list those whom were killed, including an LGBT activist, Walter Trochez, whom was kidnapped, tortured and shot.

But who is to be blamed? Shansky cites the coup president Roberto Micheletti and other leaders of the regime. He also claims that President Obama and the US State Department ‘played a major role in allowing conditions to get to this point’. They ‘took no concrete action against the thousands of documented violations since the coup took place June 28′.

Bodie California

What to do on a Sunday afternoon? Join the throngs of others at Bodie and shoot what you can. While not a primary shoot I had alway wanted to visit an authentic ghost town, not a movie set replica. Bodie is the real deal once home to 10,000 residents in 1879 this thriving gold mining town had another one or two claims to fame. One being it was believe the 2nd or 3rd largest city in California in 1880, the other claim to fame was the amount of gun fights in the streets, some say it was a daily occurrence. Tough town I guess to live in.

Today however it is a State Park, although you can easily imagine Clint Eastwood or John Wayne character riding into town at high noon …

Very cool place to visit … Below are 3 images from some of the interiors of Bodie … Looking to put together 3 external shots in the coming days/weeks.

As with all my images they are for sale. These 3 images are all Open Editions and can be sold individually or as a group

The World Is Vegan - If You Want It.

Here’s my first two contributions to the Virtual Billboard Campaign started by Gary L. Francione at www.theworldisvegan.com:

Child abuse and masochism. Two things no one will miss in a vegan world.

Go vegan. Not only is it the morally right thing to do, it’s the easiest way to make sure you don’t end up like these two.

Suicide bomber kills 7 CIA operatives in Afghanistan

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB126225941186711671.html

Wednesday’s attack on a U.S. compound in Afghanistan devastated what has been a hub of counterterrorism and intelligence operations for the spy agency.

Seven Central Intelligence Agency officers and contractors were killed and six more wounded in the suicide bomb attack at Forward Operating Base Chapman, CIA Director Leon Panetta said Thursday, the second-largest single-day loss for the spy agency in its history.

Among the casualties was the agency’s base chief, former intelligence officials said. There had been only four publicly acknowledged CIA fatalities in Afghanistan prior to this attack.

The Taliban claimed responsibility Thursday for the bombing, which was carried out by suicide bomber wearing an Afghan National Army uniform. Some senior officials think the bomber may have been given access to the base because he was believed to be an informant, said two former intelligence officials.

Several former intelligence officials described the attack in Afghanistan as “devastating” to the agency. A number of the officers killed had been counterterrorism operatives since before the 9/11 attacks.

The loss of seven officers is significant for a relatively small agency whose workforce is estimated to be 10,000 or more, but it’s all the more damaging because those lost represented so much collective experience.

———-

newsworthy because of the horrible loss of life..and an example of how any news we get out of these war spots is heavily filtered..they were orginally called civilans..not even soldiers..

“There had been only four publicly acknowledged CIA fatalities in Afghanistan prior to this attack.”

sort of admitting that the news is completely controlled..

VDARE.Com

Peter Brimelow

[...]

Every new reader that VDARE.COM gets—every time readers use our email-a-friend feature to introduce our articles to other like-minded Americans—every time a readers mentions our work on a Main Stream Media comment thread—above all every time somebody donates (tax-deductibly!) to the VDARE Foundation—the patriotic immigration reform network, the fabric of the American nation, strengthens and deepens.

2009 has been a very difficult year in the economy. I particularly want to commiserate with the increasingly significant number of VDARE.COM donors who have written to say they have lost their jobs, due to outsourcing, immigration and what we at VDARE.COM have identified (you won’t get this in the Establishment Media) as the “Diversity Recession”—driven by the “Minority Mortgage Meltdown”.

Our fight is truly your fight. That’s why we have been campaigning for an immigration moratorium to counter the unemployment crisis, an obvious answer something none of the Washington elite’s showy “jobs summits” mentioned—as we loudly pointed out.

I didn’t want to be running a foundation, or even editing. I’d rather write.

But I created VDARE.COM—we put out our first mass email on Christmas Eve 1999—to meet an imperative need. There was at that time simply nowhere else to publish facts and analysis exposing this American disaster.

We’ve come a long way since then. We’ve even shamed some of the Establishment media into covering immigration, albeit in a half-hearted way.

We’ve seen stories we’ve broken appear on Mainstream Media outlets like Fox, CNN, the New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, plus of course nominally “conservative” journals like National Review and City Journal.

And the movement for patriotic immigration reform has come a long way too. It has now developed a number of different institutions, often internet-based, that focus on different but mutually supporting areas—litigation, lobbying, scholarship, education, border security etc.

At VDARE.COM we support them all and link to them all when legally possible for a charity (even when they are too cowardly to link back to us!). Our object is to be a forum, and an honest broker, for the patriotic immigration reform movement.

Only a perennial shortage of resources prevents us from doing this on a larger scale.

I believe that VDARE.COM plays a particularly vital role even among all these patriotic immigration reform groups. We operate at the high end of the intellectual food chain. Our articles are carefully researched and written. They break news and introduce new concepts. They are of the highest professional quality and could appear anywhere in the Mainstream Media—except for the epidemic curse of Political Correctness.

And except for epidemic media cowardice.

We exist to take risks and push the envelope in a way that most professional (i.e. housetrained) journalists and columnists will not.

Our theory is that, when an idea has been sufficiently ventilated and tested, it will filter down to the more cautious, to the less imaginative and to the mass-media popularizers.

Of course, we don’t get any credit for this—as some of you are kind enough to note, beginning when the immigration issue was getting nation-wide publicity because of President Bush’s illegal alien amnesty drive in 2006 and 2007. (He didn’t get it!—because the patriotic immigration reform movement is now highly organized, thanks in good measure to VDARE.COM’s leadership role.)

But I don’t think we should care about credit. Our purpose is to change the debate—and to keep the pressure on until it become easier for politicians to be with us rather than against us. Continue to FULL ARTICLE.
